What stood out to us on day one of Fortuna One

Seven speakers, three or four ideas each. These are the ones I wrote down.

Steven Bartlett

Founder of Steven.com, investor, Diary of a CEO

  • Act at 51% certainty, not 100%, because most decisions are reversible.
  • Reward the rate of experimentation, not just the wins.
  • As AI floods every feed, real community becomes the scarce value.

John Lee

Entrepreneur, investor, mentor

  • People want entertainment more than education, so combine the two.
  • The fortune is in the follow up, so automate it.
  • Repurpose one piece of content into everything, at scale.

Natalie Piucco

Google Field CTO, applied AI strategist

  • Around two thirds of staff already use AI at work, sanctioned or not.
  • If you are not paying for the tool, you are the product.
  • Document the process, not the model, because the process survives the next model update.

Aaron Sansoni

AFR Young Rich Lister, founder of Sansoni Management

  • A business moves through three stages: job, business, asset.
  • Busy and profitable is not the same as free.
  • Build a business that runs without you.

Paul Siderovski

Founder of Limitless X

  • The economy is cyclical, and right now we are in winter.
  • Challenge your own confirmation bias.
  • The share market is a six month crystal ball into the economy.

Shelley Sullivan and Kayla Itsines

Founders of MCo Beauty and SWEAT

  • Speed wins.
  • Turn customers into a community.
  • Don't build a business around yourself.

Joseph McClendon III

Neuropsychologist and peak performance strategist

  • Wealth is a triad of health, happiness and financial abundance, not just money.
  • Ten psychological barriers, including procrastination, fear of failure and imposter syndrome, hold most people back.
  • You can condition an instant "yes" state without years of repetition.

Two themes

Two themes ran through the day for me. Don't build a business that depends on one person, and put your own rules around AI before your team makes them up for you. Both are things I see in the businesses I mentor.

Rather talk it through?

A short, no obligation conversation is the best place to begin. Tell me what is going on and I will tell you honestly whether I can help.

Based in Greater Sydney, NSW. I'll get back to you within one business day.
