Process improvement for Sydney small and medium businesses

Tribal knowledge and good intentions do not scale. Growth just multiplies the strain. I help you make how the business really runs visible, fix what is costing you time, and keep it that way.

When this is the right place to start

The business works because a few good people hold it together. That is fine until it is not. Common signs:

  • The same problems come back every month.
  • You are the answer to every question.
  • Handoffs drop and work gets done twice.
  • New people take months to get up to speed.
  • Your best people keep solving the same problem twice.

What we do together

I look at the business across people, process and platform, then fix what is holding performance back.

  • Process optimisation. I map how work actually flows through the business, then reduce waste, clarify who owns what and tighten the handoffs between people.
  • Leadership performance. I strengthen leadership around direction, decisions and ownership, so leaders know when to lead, when to manage and when to coach.
  • Ways of working. How teams work day to day: the rhythm of communication, meetings that earn their time, and real collaboration.
  • Systems and tools check. I make sure the platforms you pay for are actually supporting your processes, and flag what is underused, overlapping or worth keeping.

How I approach it

I draw on ITIL 4 for designing service and workflow where it fits, and on Kotter's eight steps for leading change, because process fixes fail when people are left behind. I keep it light. Writing something down only matters where it stops the same problem happening twice.

I work with the people who do the job, not around them. They know where the friction is, and they are the ones who make a new way of working stick.

What good looks like

You can see exactly where time, money and effort leak. Processes people trust replace ad hoc habits. Your best people stop solving the same problem twice, and the manual, repetitive work that eats hours every week gets cut.

Where we start

With a coffee chat to get to know you and the business. Then a discovery and business review, and a clear set of options for you to consider. There is no pressure to decide on the spot.

Hours back calculator

What is it costing you?

Put in the time that goes on admin, chasing, rework and being the bottleneck. This is a rough guide to help you see the size of it, not a promise.

One hour is a cautious starting point. Change it if you know better. Team hours are valued at the same hourly rate.

Your estimate

Check the numbers on the left, then press Work it out. You will see what the time is worth over a year, and what getting even a fifth of it back would mean.

Common questions

Process improvement questions

What is process improvement, in plain terms?
It means finding the steps in your work that waste time, repeat themselves or depend on one person, and fixing them. The goal is less rework and fewer surprises, not more paperwork.
Will this mean more paperwork for my team?
No. I only document what needs documenting. If a written step does not prevent a problem happening twice, it does not belong.
We have no documented processes. Can you still help?
Yes. That is the most common starting point. We map how work really happens first, with the people doing it, and build from there.
How do we make sure the changes stick?
By involving the people who do the work and giving each process a clear owner. I also set up a simple monthly check so improvements are reviewed, not forgotten.
